Shia LaBeouf Keeps His Dad in the Garage

Shia LaBeouf, 22, has disclosed that his father Jeffrey, 60, an ex-drug addict who normally lives in a teepee in Montana, now lives in the garage at the actor's home in Burbank, Star magazine reports.

The crown prince of this summer's blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, reveals that his father comes to live with him during those harsh northern winters. Guess he prefers that the old man remain outside of the house proper.

"My dad lives in Montana in a tepee, and he gets cold, so he comes up to my house for the winters and stays in the garage," Shia told Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa on their May 20 show. "He's got an air mattress set up for him—it's very comfortable."

Oh, yes, those Aero Beds are like sleeping on a cloud! Try it sometime, Shia.

So, why isn't Jeffrey allowed a bedroom of his own?

"I love him," the actor said, "but living in close proximity, we get into little battles. Over the fridge, over supplies. Toothpaste, clean towels...it becomes a little overbearing, so we keep him in the garage."

Maybe Jeffrey doesn't know there's a hotline for elder abuse?

Ah, but winter is over, and papa's still there. Whassup? "You can't be like, 'Hey, Dad, listen, it's time to go back to your tepee.' I can't make him leave," Shia explained.

You would think someone who makes his elderly father live in the garage would have no problem dumping him at the first sign of spring.

But Jeffrey might have gotten his revenge after all, with just four little words: "I live here now."
