Fashion risk-taker Solange Knowles hit up MTV's TRL Tuesday to promote her second album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams.

Or maybe she was promoting those shoes.

What are they made out of, anway—a porcupine dipped in tar? Leftover scraps from Joe Jonas' mustache? Cher?

Solange's album was released on the same day these photos were taken.

She tried to release her shoes back into their natural habitat several times, but they keep showing up on her doorstep and howling to be let back in.
