Yesterday marked a step backwards in the fight for equality in our country, when the California Supreme Court ruled to uphold Prop 8, which makes same-sex marriage illegal in the State of California.
Not suprisingly, many celebs have spoken out against the ruling, which does allow the 18,000 same-sex marriages from the last year to remain legally binding.
An outraged Kim Kardashian took to her blog, saying "This really makes me sad. I thought we were more forward thinking than this, and I'm disappointed in the Supreme Court for being so closed minded. Everyone.. gay, straight, bisexual, transgendered, EVERYONE should have equal rights to marry who they want to."
Kim's sister Khloe shared similar digust for the marriage ban, saying "While I feel extremely angry about this decision, I find myself ultimately feeling more disappointed with the state I call home, as well as my country. If you don't believe in same sex marriage, then don't marry someone who is the same sex as you! Simple as that! Honestly people, what gives you the right to dictate how others should live their life? Who are you to tell someone that they can't marry the one they love?!?"
Other stars took to their twitter accounts to express their distaste for the ruling:
Samantha Ronson: "Nice work california court, u must be beaming with pride. bet ya can't wait to tell the grandkids one day all about how you saved marriage!"
Russell Simmons: "So california supreme court upheld proposition 8. I don't get how it matters to anyone except those who want to marry?"
Adrianne Curry: "Treating gays like they arent human is wonderful!Might as well tell the gays2get to the back of the bus!Equal rights for SOME!"
Eliza Dushku: "Shame on California Supreme Court!"
Kat Dennings: "This is disgusting."
Alyssa Milano: "A sad day for equality."
Holly Montag: "BOO CALI! Our Bill of Rights and Constitution intended equal rights for ALL regardless of race, gender, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, age or creed!"
You've heard what the stars are saying, and now it's your turn: What do you think about the ruling on Prop 8?

You absolutly fail to understand that majority rule is irrevelant when human rights are being violated. That is why the surpreme court was able to desegregate schools in the 1960's despite the majority disapproval in the southern states.
I appreciate your response, because you've show me that you're incapable of refuting the points i've made. You would rather attack me than the message.
I hate to be the one to break the news to all of the people that are against same sex marriage!
Turns out this country follows the Constitution, not the Bible! If our founding fathers got together and came up with the Bible, then maybe we would all be responsible for looking at this situation in a different way, but since they came up with the Constitution, the part where "all men are created equal" is stated, should be inforced, no exceptions!
I promise you, there is no way to kill off homosexuals, turns out majority of homosexuals are born that way!
Ok, Glen, I will attack your message.
To start out you said that gay marriage does not infringe on my inalienable rights but banning it infringes on those of the homosexuals.
First of all, the status of gay marriage does not affect the life or liberty of anyone. We are all still alive and free, those liberties are not infringed. You may argue that it affects their pursuit of happiness. I would argue that the happiness of a gay relationship does not depend on whether they are legally married or not. I would also argue that imposing gay marriage against the will of the people would negatively impact their happiness and that radically altering the fundamental institution of marriage would negatively affect the happiness of society as a whole.
Your second claim, first of all, comparing sexual orientation does not equal race. An example, having separate bathrooms for blacks and whites in unconstitutional, having separate bathrooms for men and women is perfectly fine. Gender matters.
You are also wrong when you say that the majority does not matter when human rights are concerned. This is wrong because rights are ultimately defined by the people. The supreme court was able to desegregate schools because those violated rights established by the people. Not because they created some new right, as the Cali court justices did. Also, people have the right to vote and to amend their constitution. So I ask you, Glen, is it fair to uphold the so-called "rights" of gays at the expense of the rights of everyone else? I
Hey Joel,
I loved your rant. It was fabulous attempt at trying to sound educated on the matter but unfortunately you're just closed minded bigot.
Have a nice day.
Thank you to the California Supreme court for letting the deffinition of marriage to remain as between one women and one man.
