"Steppin' Out" Magazine Steps All Over Michael Jackson

Not everyone is totally broken up over the death of music legend Michael Jackson last week.

With what might be called an anti-tribute, Steppin' Out magazine is lashing out at the deceased King of Pop a mere week after his passing.

In a column charmingly entitled, "*sshole of the Week: Michael Jackson," Steppin' Out scribe Chaunce Hayden lambastes Jackson for his reputed inappropriate behavior with minor children. (Though Jackson had been accused multiple times of child molestation, he was never convicted of such a crime and was acquitted of child-molestation charges during a 2005 trial.)

"I refuse to jump on the 'rest in peace, we love you, Michael' bandwagon and shed tears over someone who was so f*cking despicable. How quickly the world forgets or conveniently chooses not to remember," Hayden writes. "Allow me to quickly recap the life of this troubled superstar: Michael Jackson was a pedophile. Michael Jackson was a drug addict. Michael Jackson abused his own children both physically and emotionally. Michael Jackson was a deadbeat who owed millions in unpaid bills. Oh yeah, and Michael Jackson could sing and dance like a motherf*cker. And now, he's dead. Boo hoo. What surprises me is how long this frail child molester was able to physically walk the earth."

Wow, judge, jury and poison-penned journalist all in one!

The column concludes, "I will not mourn the death of Michael Jackson no more than I would mourn the death of any pedophile that hunts down children for deviant pleasure...Regardless of his musical abilities. Tonight, as I write this column, my heart and tears go out to those children who grew up much too soon thanks to the 'King of Pop'."

Harsh words, but it's hardly a unique sentiment, as the national dialogue about the complicated life of Michael Jackson continues to unfold.

Let us know what you think in the comments section: Is Chaunce Hayden totally out of line, or does he have a point?

This piece is ludicrous. If the author doesn't want to mourn Michael Jackson's death, that's fine. He shouldn't, however, be so quick to spread the disguting opinions he has formed concerning the details of Jackson's life as the truth.

Particularly offensive are the author's unsubstantiated claims alleging the singer of pedophilia and emotionally/physically abusing his own children. I wonder if this 'journalist' was around to witness such interactions.

While the author's courage to voice an unpopular opinion is admirable, his grasp of pertinent facts is not. Mere conjecture is insufficient means on which to base scathing accusations.

To recap, in 1993, at the time of the first public accusation of molestation, no criminal charges were pressed against Jackson due to lack of evidence. In 2005, Jackson was charged, but acquitted of all charges of child sexual abuse. THESE are facts.

    in reply to smitty.
if you believed someone had molested your child would you accept any amount of money? and by the way idiot after MJ died that stupid son of a b*tch came out and said he had lied.

Hayden is totally out of line for such comments. He apparently deems himself more informed and intelligent than the Judge and Jury that acquitted Michael. He has taken liberties in assuming guilt, where there is no evidence to support it. How much faith do we put into Evan Chandler who wanted 20million and a record deal? Or how much faith in the second accuser's mother who had been accused of extortion and fraud from other celebrities? Or the fact that Jordan Chandler has allegedly come forward to say he lied about the entire incedent. There were plenty of snakes in the grass who had no problem fabricating facts in an attempt to get a piece of Jackson's money. BTW, Mr. Know it all...Michael did not want to settle he wanted to prove his innocence. It was Lisa Marie Presley who advised him to settle so he could move on with his life. In hingdsight, it may have served him better not to have taken her advise. He probably would not have relied on prescription drugs in an attempt to kill the emotional pain and humiliation and still be with us today. One things for sure. Nobody's gonna miss you when you're gone

Who the hell is Chaunce Hayden!! Clean your own dirt y´all i gnorants, really. How can ANYONE O F YOU claim to know about Michael J ackson and his deeds? You met him? ou talked to him? Dammit, don´t ev er quote the tabloids, people.. We are left to believe he did it or n t. But I think nobody´s int erested in any of your beliefs, so hold it! I can´t understand how any ne of you who blame him can be so e motional about gossiping, have n´t you got any other problems than hurting a dead man and his famil y including all disci ples??
The world is full enoug h of hate like that. Think about it.

Diane, sorry but I don't think it's safe to assume he was relying on prescription drugs to kill the emotional pain and humiliation that came as a result of taking his token wife's advice. It's probably much more likely that he relied on said medications to deal with the emotional pain his own appearance caused him after his obsession with surgeries left him without hair and a face you could hardly recognize as a human face anymore. Just a thought. LMJ, I don't hate the man. Hate is such a strong word. I also refuse to idolize him and turn him into some god he is not just because "he sang pretty". On that note, your use of the word "disciples" frightens me. Just goes to show the masses will follow anyone blindly. Oh well, join the many others in buying his albums up now that he's dead to help the inheritors of his estate pay off his bills. In the mean time, allow others to practice their freedom of speech and choose not to keep their beliefs to themselves. ;)

Oh, and Sara, the only reason he's making more than my cheap ass ever could is because people like you threw your money at him. Who cares? I don't have to like him just because he is rich. Get over it. Money doesn't automatically make him cool. The talent and the man are two different things. I can appreciate his music and still not care for the man behind it. If only you could as well...

who the hell is this journalist????? No one on earth knows who the hell he is. Say MJ and the whole world knows!! He was/is and always will be so very important in so many people's lives. He brought the world together and sang of love, hope. oppression, the world, the peple and gave such joy to all. You are no one and what have you given to the world????? Your views are absolutely not important at all!!! Who the hell is Cnaunce Hayden????? I rest my case!!!!!!

  • thatitguy 4 mos ago

Umm... Hayden wrote this article. You know him, because you're making comments about his article. There, happy? And, you don't really have a case, so I'm glad it's rested. You're only argument was that Michael brought the world together, which is simply again crediting him for things he did not in fact do and putting him up on that proverbial pedestal. You can't say he is wonderful simply because everyone knows his name and no one else's opinion should matter. Everyone knows the name Hitler. Does that mean we should celebrate him? I rest my case (and yours).

dang you people ... im thinking you guys must be pedophiles and r angry that because of his love for children he got a chance to really help some of them..... the parents of these children taught their kids to lie and continue to lie by bribes, thats what is sick and sad and i think he paid so they would leave him alone also i think that is what eventually killed him because people could think he would stoop so low as to hurt these babies he only wanted to show them the love he didnt receive as a child ... geeesh
