Suspect William Balfour Arrested for Hudson Murders

Today, Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson comes one step closer to a resolution in the murder cases of her mother, brother and her seven-year-old nephew.

William Balfour, 27, the husband of Hudson's sister Julia Hudson, 31, was taken into custody in Chicago this afternoon and will be charged with three counts of homicide.

Chicago Police collected Balfour from Stateville Correction Center in Illinois, where he's been detained on charges stemming from a nine-year-old parole violation.

“He is awaiting formal charges for three counts of murder,” a police rep told E! News, “there likely will be a press conference once there are formal charges against him.”

The October 24 shootings that claimed Darnell and Jason Donerson (57 and 59 respectively) were followed by a harrowing three day-search for Hudson's nephew and Balfour's step-son Julian King, 7.

The boy's body was discovered in an abandoned vehicle three days later, and pronounced dead on the scene.

Initially, Balfour was only cited as a "person of interest," now elevated and charged.
