Usher's Wife Stable After Medical Emergency

Tameka Foster Raymond, wife of singer Usher (born Usher Raymond), is stable after suffering a medical emergency over the weekend while being operated on in Brazil, People reports.

Jeff O'Keefe, a rep for the 30-year-old musician, says that his 37-year-old wife "is in stable condition after suffering from complications from routine surgery in Brazil."

O'Keefe adds that Usher, who was forced to cancel his performance at record executive Clive Davis' pre-Grammys bash on Saturday night because of the medical scare, is "with her at the hospital. No further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time."

The exact nature of the surgery is not known, but reports over the weekend indicated that Raymond, who gave birth to the couple's son, Naviyd Ely Raymond in December, may have gone in for a tummy tuck. (Raymond also has three other sons from a previous relationship.)

Dr. Gabriel Hunt, a neurosurgeon from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, was reportedly flown to Brazil to consult on Raymond's case.
