What's worse than a successful film's director chastising a studio for wanting to turn out a cash cow sequel?
Not having the star power to launch a franchise.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that another conflict has arisen in the making of New Moon, the sequel to insanely popular Robert Pattinson-launching Twilight.
The conflict centers on 16-year-old Taylor Lautner, whose werewolf character Jacob Black played a supporting role in Twilight but crosses-over to lead and love interest in Moon.
According to EW sources, producers want a more physically and romantically mature actor for the part. They need a performer who poses a threat to the lover's paradise established by Pattinson's Edward and Kristen Stewart's Bella.
An agent for Lautner is attempting to counter the decision with a little movie magic, says the mag. The agent supposedly reached out to the effects masters of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to help digitally enhance Lautner's pre-teen look.
If Lautner remains (which won't be decided until producers find a filmmaker to replace Catherine Hardwick), the actor could be catapulted to the Pattinson-sphere.

This movie will stink if they dont use the same actors, what dipsh*ts!!!
he's a good actor but way too young to play the role in the next movie . In the book he ages considerably because of his condition . It wouldn't work if he stayed, I'm sorry to say .
I think that Taylor is still the ONLY choice at this point.
Firstly, we've had him for one movie. It's impossibly stupid to cut him and replace him. Continuity is extremely necessary.
Secondly, yes, Jake gets bigger. BUT, he is still as immature as a 15 year old. Jake's personality doesn't mature any, even if he looks bigger.
Thirdly: Jake... romantic? I can't see why a more 'romantically' mature actor is necessary. Jake is far from romantic. Bella didn't love him because he was as romantic as Edward. She loved him because he was there for her when she needed him. Jake is more like a clumsy big teen boy than he is a romantic mature man.
YOU NAILED IT!!
i agree! and hes soo perfect for the part and hes exactly how i would picture jake to be in the beg it shouldnt be hard to just make him look bigger then he did in the first movie they got the money they can do it .. im sooo sick of hearing that hes gna get replaced that will be by far the most stupidest decision for them to make
it would be worse if he left they can pullit ff they just need to stop bitchin about it and actually try
It'd be pointless to change the who plays the role of jacob black in new moon...you already casted taylor as jacob soo just leave it be. he is the perfect person to play jacob in new moon.
he is a good actor and he doesn't actually age just grow freakishly huge! he is the one person who should play jacob black. KEEP HIM!!!!
itd be kinda upsetting if they let him only star in twilight.
I would stay with Taylor until he completes his transformation, I would chose Steven Strait for big jacob. They seem to look more alike and Steven is really a hottie. and of course better than the one that its being mention...capoon guy, he seems not a jacob, at least in my opinion!!!
They should keep taylor we dont care if he isnt FREAKISHLY MASSIVE
