Taylor Lautner: New Trouble in ‘Twilight’ Sequel

What’s worse than a successful film’s director chastising a studio for wanting to turn out a cash cow sequel?

Not having the star power to launch a franchise.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that another conflict has arisen in the making of New Moon, the sequel to insanely popular Robert Pattinson-launching Twilight.

The conflict centers on 16-year-old Taylor Lautner, whose werewolf character Jacob Black played a supporting role in Twilight but crosses-over to lead and love interest in Moon.

According to EW sources, producers want a more physically and romantically mature actor for the part.  They need a performer who poses a threat to the lover’s paradise established by Pattinson’s Edward and Kristen Stewart‘s Bella.

An agent for Lautner is attempting to counter the decision with a little movie magic, says the mag. The agent supposedly reached out to the effects masters of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to help digitally enhance Lautner’s pre-teen look.

If Lautner remains (which won’t be decided until producers find a filmmaker to replace Catherine Hardwick), the actor could be catapulted to the Pattinson-sphere.
