Taylor Swift Defends Her Song About Joe Jonas

Apr 1, 2009 at 12:15pm

Taylor Swift was dumped by Joe Jonas in a cell phone call that allegedly took only 27 seconds.

If that isn’t the grounds for Swift to write a country song in revenge, what is?

And Swift is defending the song about her breakup, “Forever and Always” off her hit album Fearless, in the May issue of Seventeen.

“Writing songs about people is the only way I know how to do things,” Swift says. “I mean, I can’t wish I hadn’t written a song about someone, because if I hadn’t, that song wouldn’t exist. I just don’t find any joy in writing about things I haven’t been through.”

Got that, Joe?

Swift contended at the time that Jonas had broken up with her to begin dating Push actress and star of the Jonas Brothers’ video “Lovebug”, Camilla Belle.

Taylor says she’s A-OK, and the experience ended up giving her a great song. And she’s not stopping there.

“Right now, my favorite thing to write about is love. And breakups. And boys. And feelings,” she says.

Brace yourself for Swift’s next album, Jonas.
