Taylor Swift is cleaning out her closet—and doing a good deed while she's at it.
People reports that the country singer donated her long, cream-and-gold Jessica McClintock gown to Hearst Magazines' DonateMyDress.org. Donate My Dress is the first nationwide organization to bring together local dress drives from across the U.S. in an effort to help the less fortunate buy their own prom dresses. Swift's gown was one among many celebrity garments to be auctioned for the cause.
Taylor revealed, "I chose to give away this prom dress because I wore it once and loved it! To keep it around, hanging there all by itself and lonely in my closet, never to be worn again, seemed a little pointless. I want another girl somewhere to feel good in it and have a great prom night because of this dress."
Other female stars to donate to the first annual celebrity dress charity auction included Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Nikki Blonsky and Ashley Greene. Taylor's dress sold for a whopping $1,200.
Who do you think Taylor went to the prom with? A certain Jonas Brother, perhaps? Leave your guesses in the comments!
