Taylor Swift to Take Dark Role on 'CSI'

Taylor Swift has conquered the music biz, and MySpace, and now she's looking to stretch her acting chops, too!

Us reports that the 19-year-old pop/country singer, whose album Fearless has been #1 on the Billboard Top 200 for six weeks, is set to appear on an upcoming episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

"Swift will play Haley Jones, a teenaged girl whose family runs a seedy Vegas motel," CBS said in a press release. "Over the course of a year, Haley goes through a series of changes that have tragic consequences."

It's a gritty part, and one that's a stretch from Swift's upcoming appearance in the Disney Channel's 3-D Jonas Brothers movie set to air in February.

"Before Christmas we reached out to Taylor Swift because one of the CBS executives had told me, 'Taylor loves your show'," CSI executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said. "So Taylor came in to meet with me right before the holidays and we talked about the character."

But the darker material didn't scare Swift off.

"I said, 'it's a very edgy part, this may not be what you want,'" Mendelsohn continued. "But she said, 'I love it, and I want to do it.'"

Look for Taylor on CSI in either late February or early March.
