Taylor Swift's 'We are Never Ever Getting Back Together' is Not About Joe Jonas, Says the Singer
The 23-year-old Next star has already inspired three of Swift's biggest hits -- "Better Than Revenge," "Last Kiss" and "Forever and Always" -- but he's nixing rumors that this one is about him. "I don't think we've ever tried [to get back together] another time, so I can tell you it's not about me," he told 94.7 Fresh FM radio.
What else did Jonas have to say about his ex-girlfriend Swift?
"That said, I think the song is great," he added. "Taylor does pop music really well, and I'm happy for her."
It sounds like Jonas learned his lesson. He reportedly broke up with Swift -- via a 27 second phone call -- in 2008, prompting Swift to write "Forever and Always." Then in 2009, Jonas fired back at Swift with his own tell-all song, "Much Better," which praised his then-girlfriend Camilla Belle at the expense of Swift. "Get a rep for breakin' hearts/ Now I'm done with super stars/ And all the tears on her guitar/ I'm not bitter," Jonas crooned on the track.
Not one to be outdone, Swift dedicated not one, but two tracks to Jonas on her chart-topping album Speak Now: "Better Than Revenge" and "Last Kiss."
Now it looks like the both Swift and Jonas are ready to put the drama behind them. The 22-year-old popstar has yet to reveal who her current single is about, but that hasn't stopped people from guessing. One potential ex-boyfriend is Parachute frontman Will Anderson. The two dated on-and-off in late 2011.
