Superstar couple and newly-minted New Yorkers Tom Cruise, 46, and Katie Holmes, 29, keep their two-year-old daughter Suri supplied with plenty of dolls and stuffed animals to play with.
But yesterday Mom and Dad escorted their chocolate-loving cherub to Manhattan toy complex FAO Schwartz for entirely charitable reasons: The Cruises were buying games and toys to donate to Stockings with Care, a nonprofit organization that gives presents to needy children.
A uniformed guardsman in old-time royal garb showed young Suri around the store. The all-powerful toddler stared in awe at the candy and playthings surrounding her.
Stockings with Care gathers Christmas wish lists from kids in shelters and at-risk environments and then assigns Santas to take care of one or all of their three wishes.
Katie Holmes is currently starring in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's classic play All My Sons.
Tom Cruise will next be seen on the big screen in Valkyrie, the true story of a group of high-ranking German officers who hatched a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II.
The film opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
