Tropic Thunder scene-stealer Tom Cruise is eyeing a role in Sleeper, an adaptation of a DC comic book depicting an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain.

His character then falls for Miss Misery, a member of a villanous organization.

Miss Misery? Okay, so this is fiction.

Xenu should be all smiles. After all, someone in the Church of Scientology's pool of Hollywood talent has to bring home the bacon.

Tom probably took one look at the Lions for Lambs returns and decided to hop on the same superhero bandwagon as Robert Downey Jr. and Christian Bale.

Hell, Lions for Lambs even makes ticket presales for Katie Holmes' Broadway debut seem like a goldmine.

Wonder what Downey thinks of Tom joining Team DC?
