Fashion magazines and runways have signaled the coming of ankle booties. Those who are in the know have been wearing them for a few months now, but it seems that this trend has finally emerged into the mainstream. At red carpet events and paparazzi shots, it’s hard to find a celebrity not wearing those beloved booties. 

They’ve been spotted on celebrities such as Rihanna, Mischa Barton, Kristen Bell, and Stella McCartney, and Katie Holmes, to name a few. This season, there's a transition afoot from the tall, chunky boots to smaller '80s chic booties. 

There are several different styles to choose from. They vary from patent leather, lace-ups, fold-over snap, and suede booties. They can be paired with muted tights and a wide skirt or with a pair of skinny jeans and a blouse or leggings and a tunic.
