As a new mom to a four month old girl, I loved Natalie Portman’s speech. She looked beautiful with her baby bump and pregnancy glow and seemed so genuine. For someone who’s been in the business for over half of her life, she accepted the award with all of the grace and humility you’d expect from a struggling actress being acknowledged for her breakthrough performance.
You could really tell how excited and grateful she felt and I completely understood how incredibly emotional it must have been for her. She’s taken a lot of heat for being pregnant and unwed, but she thanked her boyfriend, who choreographed her routines in Black Swan, and really kept it together (despite the surges of hormones and emotions she HAD to have been feeling).
When I was pregnant, I could barely keep from crying singing Taylor Swift songs in the car. I couldn’t image accepting an Oscar! :)
