My boyfriend of 5 years proposed to me on my 23rd birthday, 9/4/11. It was the greatest moment of my life by far! His name’s Raffi, growing up without parents at a young age left him with no choice but to mature fast, pay his way through MBA school, and work to provide for himself. On the other hand, I, Anasheh, grew up with a big family of 3 sisters and had to start working in highschool to cover my own expenses, pay my way through nursing school, and help out at the house. We both have come a long way, both being eachothers’ very first love we grew together through thick and thin trying to work with our lives and build a strong relationship from scratch. It was very hard, but one thing we both never gave up on one another and never turned our backs towards eachother. My fiancé lives with his brother and brother’s family and now being 26 he’s ready to settle and start a family and home of his own. We are planning on getting married next summer and begin our new chapter in life. Having debt and student loans from both of us will make it difficult to have an “all out” traditional Armenian wedding, but if life’s troubles haven’t stopped us from getting to where we are today, then nothing will, not even money. Trust love, and honesty is all we need until the end.
