Vanessa Hudgens Is Going on a Cinematic 'Journey'
Vanessa Hudgens is about to take a little trip—and thanks to the magic of movies, you'll be able to go along with her.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the former High School Musical beauty is in final negotiations to star in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the sequel to 2008's Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. In the film, Hudgens will play a Pacific Islander who falls for explorer Sean Anderson, who will once again be played by The Kids Are All Right actor Josh Hutcherson. Anderson travels to a mythical island in a quest to find his missing grandfather (played by Michael Caine). Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson will also be along for the adventure.
Filming is tentatively scheduled to begin in late October in Hawaii and North Carolina, for a September 23, 2011 release.
Fans will be seeing a lot of Hudgens on the big screen in coming months; she's also starring in the upcoming Beauty and the Beast adaptation Beastly and the fantasy thriller Sucker Punch, which are both scheduled to hit theaters next March.
