VIDEO: Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd Says ‘Twilight’ Vampires Are “Cute”
Things are heating up in the battle of the on-screen vampires.
TMZ cameras caught True Blood‘s super-sexy, but super-evil, Alexander Skarsgård at the airport and grilled him about his crazy fans and those other famous vamps.
When asked if he ever encounters women who want him to bite them, Skarsgard answers nonchalantly, “Yeah, that has happened a few times.” At least he’s honest. (And looks to be slightly happy about it?)
But here’s where things get good. His thoughts on the Twilight blood-suckers, played by actors like Rob Pattinson and Kellan Lutz?
“I think they’re cute….they’re adorable.”
As you may recall, True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer recently called RPattz’s character the “Slim-Fast, Diet Coke” of vampires. Is Skarsgard also diminishing the fright potential of Twilight‘s vamps by dismissing them as “cute”?

i agree with Alex with the Cute & Adorable Bit… most of them are portraying beautiful teenagers (not scary looking) Vampires… they are not hardcore Bad Vampires (so yes they are cute)

Obviously Twilight ‘vamps’ can’t be named other than cute, without fangs and sparkling at the sunshine…. Alex just said the facts…
not a true blood fan or really a twilight fan but i love cam gigandet who played james in twilight, so i’d go twilight just for him (stupid maybe honest yes) but the “vampires” in twilight are not true vampires, sparkle in sunlight no, they may be called vamps but they are not.
true blood is the best show on television hands down. compared to twilight, it’s got more action, excitement, and overall is just more entertaining to watch. Twilight you just fall in love with because the books are hands down the most exciting books to read. true blood and twilight are different in so many ways yet both are completely awesome. you can’t really say one is better than the other…i loveee love love edward cullen, but vampire bill gets my blood flowing too.
For those of you who may not know this, Alexander and Kellan Lutz are friends as a result of starring in the HBO Miniseries Generation Kill (2008) so he more than likely meant what he said in the TMZ Video ;)
He is right the stars of Twilight are all cute. That is because it was made for teen audiences. True Blood is for adults therefore having adults stars.

Twilight is indeed a vampire story for teens, it has little maturity. And at the risk of repeating the other good points made here, vampires who sparkle prettily in the sunshine are not just cute, but lame. There is an edge to the vampires in True Blood that Twilight does not, and cannot have, given its target audience. Vampires that sparkle vs vampires like Eric who tear victims limb form limb, or vampires that combine sex and biting? No. contest.:)

the twilight characters are cute……. but you are so right about Jasper! I’m almost done with Breaking Dawn, and I am now a die hard Twilight fan! Twilight is wayy better than True Blood!
I think both Twilight and True Blood are awesome, but TB is way more mature so in that aspect yeah its cute. I don’t understand why everyone is trying to start beef between them…

so true. there really is no comparing the two. they’re directed at two completely different audiences. one’s gory, violent and sexually intense. the other plays on teenage fantasies of true love and all that crap.

I love True Blood and The Twilight Saga but I dont understand why the actors of True Blood have to talk down about the whole Twilight craze. I don’t think the people from TB care about all this stuff. People keep saying the TB vampires shouldn’t talk about Twilight, well they don’t from what I see they only respond to questionscomments made to them by press or paps. I do think the acting is better in TB though, but I’m still a Twilight girl to the end.

The Twilight series and the True Blood series are very different. You can’t compare them when the writers use quite different ideas of vampire folklore as a basis for their stories. Oh, and just so you will know, the books that True Blood is based on, The Sooke Stackhouse novels, are really good! ALOT better than the HBO series.

Alex is such a gentleman, and boy do I love how he cuts down the Twilight vampires while remaining classy. Rather, I feel as though the mature cast of True Blood couldn’t care less about squeaky clean Twilight — it’s always the media trying to stir something.

Hey, I dont understand why the twilight-fans feel offended by Mr. SkarsgÃ¥rd’s statement?! He didnt say “they suck” or smth in that way but he used “cute” and “adorable” and as far as I know these are positive adjectives therefore I cant see any trace of bashing.
I also want to say that if the twilight fans do not want that the True Blood casts say anything about Twilight, then they should grow up and realize how the entertainment business works. Your behaviour is leading to these interviews because statements about Twilight from other Vampire-related series gets a lot of attention from Twilight fans and that’s their goal. Realize it!

tbh being a vamp fan since i first watched Lost Boys what seems like a million years ago….i’ve read pretty much most of the vamp fiction out there and read the books. I have to say..while i do love Twilight…True Blood is far superior. And no they’re not jumping on the vamp bandwagon because the Sookie books were written before Twilight. If this is how people are reacting now, how will it be when The Vampires Assistant and The Vampire Diaries come out…both for a younger audience…and both predating Sookie and Twilight byt several years..in fact I read The Vampire Diaries in high school…and trust me..that was a long time ago…
I am loving the influx of vampire movies/tv at the moment and having studied the evolution of the vampire in media in regards to the ever changing social climates it makes sense to me to have these movies out at the moment…at the time where there’s conflict in the real world.
As for the actors saying stuff about Twilight…for all the Twilight fans out there who feel the need to moan about the TB actors saying stuff…seriously…do u have any understanding of the media? They no doubt have a great respect for the Twilight actors as most actors do their peers…and the media is simply hyping up this new fascination with the vampire genre. None of the TB actors have ever gone and said anything about Twilight off their own back and when questioned, have been talking about the characters in the book…not the actors themselves. And lets face it…after 4 books…Edward who i loved in Twilight…was grating on me…By the time Breaking Dawn came round…i was kind of hoping Buffy would turn up…I know i’m going to get flamed for that comment..but i cant help feeling that way. Anyone who knows anything about vampire lore knows that vampires were not meant to be pretty sparkly ‘vegetarians’ They’re ruthless killers and even tho Bill is mainstreaming and meant to be the “good one” (-yeah right) even he goes on killing sprees…and doesn’t go all whiney about biting Sookie…in fact he gets off on it…whereas Edward needed to suck it up, grow a pair and stop being such a goody two shoes…
BIG DIFFERENCE: TRUE BLOOD ADULTS…..TWILIGHT….TEENS….SCARSGARD appeals to adult women (and men too) !!!! as do all the actors on TRUE BLOOD. He is very sexy !!
