Video: Britney Spears Feels Like a Prisoner

Britney Spears appears to be taking the right steps toward getting her life back and kicking off a career comeback, but things are not always 100 percent rosy for the 26-year-old pop star.

According to U.K. paper The Sun, Spears compares her life—which currently finds her under her father Jamie's conservatorship and Larry Rudolph's management—to being a prisoner, in upcoming MTV documentary For the Record.

"There’s no excitement, there’s no passion. I have really good days, and then I have bad days. Even when you go to jail you know there’s the time when you’re gonna get out. But in this situation, it’s never ending. It’s just like Groundhog Day every day."

All that said, in this For the Record video preview, Britney still seems darn happier and healthier than she has in years:

The work keeps coming for Britney. Her new album Circus is released December 2—the day of her 27th birthday. She'll celebrate with a performance to be televised that morning on ABC's Good Morning America.

Then there's her upcoming U.K. appearance on Simon Cowell's talent show The X Factor, not to mention a world tour in support of Circus in early 2009.

"I think it’s too in control. If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated. When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear but they’re really not listening. If you do something wrong in your work, you can move on, but I’m having to pay for a long time. I never wanted to become one of those prisoner people. I always wanted to feel free."

MTV's For the Record airs Sunday, November 30, at 10 p.m.

If Britney Spears really wants to feel like a prisoner, I have a radiator, a chain and a dog dish with her name all over them.

She has worked for and justly deserves the 100% support of her peers and worldwide fan base. This young woman has made a courageous journey 'back' from where many do not return. I personally see a role for her as an advocate for mental health within the U.S and beyond should she so choose. She lives in a fish bowl, hounded by the bottom dwelling mud suckers who camp outside her home and deprive her of her freedom at every chance, whether its shopping or having a coffee, they are always there. For those who have never experienced the confines of mental health, think a bit deeper and her reference to being a prisoner will extend beyond just physical limitations.

Britney is a prisoner, and for those fans who hear these words and these interviews and ignore them, you are just as bad as the people controlling her life.
