VIDEO: Kanye West Apologizes Yet Again

Sep 15, 2009 at 7:45am

In a continuing effort to make amends for his shameful, spotlight-stealing display at this year’s Video Music Awards, Kanye West apologized for a third time on Jay Leno‘s show on Monday for interrupting Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech.

Admitting that his deceased mother Donda would not have approved of his behavior, West said, “It was rude, period” and revealed that he knew he made a mistake when the audience erupted in a chorus of boos.

He also said that—gasp!—he is giving himself a time-out over the episode, and will be making himself scarce for a while until he learns how to behave properly in public.

West continued by saying,

“So many celebrities, they never take the time off. I’ve never taken the time off to really—you know, just music after music and tour after tour. I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt. My dream of what awards shows are supposed to be, ’cause, and I don’t try to justify it because I was just in the wrong. That’s period. But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve.”

Let us know in the comments section: Just how long of a time-out should Kanye West give himself for publicly dissing Taylor Swift?
