I can understand her not wanting to cave in to whiny children, but this seemed a little bit harsh.

There’s a reason why people don’t like her. It has nothing to do with jealousy, it has to do with her attitude that the world revolves around her. Her children are nothing more than commodities, props, and accessories. They are also her mealticket. She is pathetic.

Oh, big deal. This has to be the most pointless videoclip I have ever seen. The woman has 8 children under the age of 10; give her a break. I would like to see how “laid back” other mothers might appear on camera if placed in the same situation. As a side note, anyone who has ever seen the show knows that dramatic displays and Maddy often go hand-in-hand (although, in her defense, the small amount of attention these little act-outs garner is probably enough to enforce the behavior; I’ll venture that having 7 siblings very close to your own age may do that).

Little problem with that argument. Most other mothers have the common sense not to parade their children like they are side-show freaks in order to pad their wallets.

I think she wasnt playing into maddy game. It has more to do with a child trying to get attention from her mother than a mother denying her child something to drink. If you watch the show you know how maddy strives for attention. I think if anyone knows how to deal with maddy its kate.

That argument might hold water, so to speak, if the kid hadn’t told her how thirsty she was before Kate asked for a water herself, took a sip, then denied her own child the same sustenance. She probably thought about gargling with the water and spit it in the kid’s face, but then realized that even that would provide a little bit of refreshment for the poor kid.

what are you talking about????? the kid was thirsty, I’d be whiny too if I was dying of thirst and my OWN MOTHER didn’t give me a drink of her water. This show is now so fake, It use to be so interesting to watch a real, middle class family trying to live day to day like any other normal family. But they are not ordinary people anymore, they are RICH IN MONEY (not love) and they do not struggle to pay bills or raise their children as they have nannies and more and anything they want at their fingertips. Stop making excuses for this horrible monster. So what if they were ready to shoot? Hold up the shoot for half a second so you can hydrate your kid. They were all under hot lights, the kid said she was thirsty, obviously Kate was too, but she slaked her own thirst and denied her own kid because, in Kate’s World, it’s all about her and how much camera time she gets.

This is such a stupid segment. They were about to go live on tv. Anybody who has kids knows that if you give one kid a drink of water, you have to give them ALL drinks of water. She obviously didn’t want to start something before going live on tv. Report on some real news!!

The child was asking for a drink of water, she wasn’t asking for a toy, or a piece of candy. She was thristy do give her the drink of water. If you have to tell the camera crew or the host of the program to give you a minute then do so. Don’t take a sip of water if front of your child when she is asking you for water, really how long would it have been for her to give Mady a sip and say ok, you can have the rest when we finish taping. Maybe if she hadn’t taken the first sip and allowed her daughter to drink first there would have been enough time. To all those people making excuses for Kate’s behavior shame on you.

Kate forced her children to sit under hot lights that day to do MULTIPLE interviews. They were WORKING. When someone is working, to deny them water is pretty much, well, slavery. These were not kids playing at the park. They were ON THE CLOCK. When was the last time a child tv star was denied water while on the job? Just because it’s “reality” tv does not mean Mady was just WHINING. Good grief, they were sitting under hot studio lights. Kate’s awful. Selfish. Rude. Disgusting.

Really? Cuz I would say Kate doesn’t have the slightest inkling what to do with Mady. Mady needs attention and love. Moreso than an average child. I have a child like that and she needs more attention. It’s not SPOILING her. It is meeting her needs and loving her. A child asking for water is not being dramatic for goodness sake. I doubt the child was “dying of thirst”, but it was a bad call on the mother’s part to take a sip of water in front of the child who just asked for a drink. I do feel sorry for the kids for having to sit through all of those interviews, pictures, filmings, etc… Must be very tiresome. However, they seem to enjoy all the perks that come with their life.

I could NEVER drink in front of my thirsty chidren. I would have waited and passed the water around to the kids first. My kids come before me ALWAYS!!!

One of these days some one is going to kidnap one of their kids because they put them on TV and some sicko out there will or is stalking them and the parents created it all, for fame, fortune, things, at the price and risk of harm to their kids. The kids need the bodyguard, not Kate. Although the hate toward Kate, maybe she needs one too, I hate her for what a mean narcissist she is. I wish some one would take all 8 of the kids away from her so the 8 could live a private, normal life and experience normal child development.

‘Show’ or ‘No Show’, if my child was thirst she would get a drink whether or not the Queen of England or anyone was there. Kate has issues of her own personal childhood and she’s taking it out particularly on Mady. So Kate, just remember one thing…the children will grow up and remember this. Just remember who gets to choose your retirement home!

I agree with you, but in the same sense, as a mother Kate should not have taken the drink (and especially in front of her children) that’s where this all went wrong

That clip was no big deal. People are getting petty in their picking apart of this family. They were going live to an interview. Mady was whining and trying to get attention. Kate was about to give her some water and they cued her that they were going live so she set it down. WHAT A CHILD ABUSER!!! Kids should get everything they demand the instant they demand it! They could die in the meantime!

And knowing the kids, you give Mady a sip and they will all come running/start complaining.

We thought Mommie Dearest was bad, Kate’s got her beat by miles! How dare she take a drink for herself and neglect her daughter one so boldly in front of the public. Honestly I dont understand why you people are making such a big deal out of this….I dont know if any of you have multiple children, obviously not because you would know as soon as she gave mady a sip of water they would all want one. absolutely ridiculous, its one thing if there wasn’t time for ANYONE to get a drink before they started (I am quite sure it have been fine for them to hold up a minute) But jeez if you have a bottle of water in your hands and your child is thirsty DUH you pass the bottle and if the rest want a sip to then pass it on down it would have taken 2 freakin minutes to pass the bottle of water down to all of them. Your argument would hold water EXCEPT that if that were the case, the mother would not escalate the situation by asking for water, drinking it HERSELF in front of the children, and then putting it off to the side. She would have just ignored the request entirely. But as many have pointed out, it is HOT under those studio lights. Whether Kate thought Mady was whiny or not, a mother who claims “everything I do I do for my children” would have taken the heat into consideration and considered that the request might come from genuine thirst.

The whole caving into a whiny child is a bunch of crap.She had apparently been asking water for some time and access took the time to show the world what this devil mom is really like when the cameras aren’t on.Sure kids are whiny their KIDS.I have a 4 year old daughter and would never under any situation drink in front of her if I weren’t going to share it with her.I even allow her the right of having some of my food if she feels the need to try some.As a parent there are certain things that you just naturally do and typically that includes sharing your drink ,especially when your kid has been asking for some.I would become bitchy and whiny to if I kept asking nicely for a drink and was refused while my evil crazy bitch mom drank her’s in front of my face.

Did you watch the clip?? She reached for the bottle of water at the end and it wasn’t there. She tried to get her a drink and it was too late. And if you watch the show you would see that Mady is the most dramatic of the twins. Any mom knows that you cannot always do everything that your child demands of you the instant they demand it….so think that….times 8. Cut this woman some slack…

This was so overblown! Didn’t look to me like she was abusively denying water, she even reached for the water but then realized the timing was off. I saw a woman distracted by numerous children and external environment. HONESTLY…don’t we have REAL abusive parents in the world why do we need to try so hard to find something else to hang on Jon and Kate? The show is interesting, but, certainly not the center of the world. We should all move on. I hope they work out their problems but I doubt there are many of us out there that can possibly understand their lives and so are not qualified to judge their lives.
