Video: Oprah Winfrey’s Pompous Circumstance

Jun 16, 2008 at 8:59pm

All-powerful talk-show host Oprah Winfrey took time out from counting her millions and having Stedman Graham suck the lint from between her toes yesterday to deliver the commencement address at Stanford University.

Winfrey did a lot of yakking about life’s lessons during the 29-minute address, telling the 4,000-plus students to “follow your feelings” and that “doing good actually makes you better.”

The Big O also told the assemblage, “Money is pretty nice. I like money. It’s good for buying things.”

Okay, so be true to yourself and help others…but don’t forget to grab every dollar you can? Got it, kids?

Speaking of mixed messages, Winfrey also made the graduates honorary members of her inspirational-book club, giving them copies of Daniel Pink‘s A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future and Eckart Tolle‘s A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.

WTF? These scholars just graduated from one of the most challenging schools in the country, and you give them books? Right now, the last thing they want in the world is something to read. Especially a pile of feel-good drivel written by some charlatans who will probably be exposed as cannibals within the next month.

Check out the video of the speech below. It will totally fill you with the urge to wrap your fingers around Oprah’s throat an uplifted spirit and renewed sense of purpose.
