Chris Brown Debuts ‘Don’t Judge Me’ Video: Singer Sacrifices Himself to Save the World (VIDEO)
That is according to Brown’s brand-new music video for his latest single, “Don’t Judge Me” — his fifth from his Fortune album — which he debuted on Thursday. The video channels end-of-the-world disaster films like Armageddon and Independence Day, as Brown is forced to sacrifice his life to save Earth from an alien invasion — all the while, seeking forgiveness from his girlfriend for his infidelity.
The single’s lyrics have sparked speculation as to whether Brown’s art is imitating his life.
Brown’s high-profile relationship with fellow pop star Rihanna was reportedly marred by rumors of his infidelity — even before their fateful fight back in 2009. And throughout his current relationship with model girlfriend Karrueche Tran, there’s been buzz that Brown’s romance with Rihanna still lingers.
The song’s lyrics have added fuel to the fire about Brown’s love life woes:
“You’re hearing rumors about me/
And you can’t stomach the thought/
Of someone touching my body/
When you so close to my heart/
I won’t deny what they saying/
Because most of it is true/
But it was all before I fell for you.
Everything I say right now/
Is gonna be used in another fight/
And I’ve been through this so many times/
Can we change the subject?/
You gonna start asking me questions like:/
‘Was she attractive? Was she an actress?'”
Brown’s fans and detractors alike have speculated the real-life meaning behind the lyrics. While some suspect the song is an apology to Tran for stepping out on her with Rihanna, others believe the heartfelt tune is about Brown’s now infamous assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
Regardless of the song’s significance, Brown has declared the newly-dropped video one of his favorites. “Thank you to all the fans that love the video! First time
@colintilleyand I have collaborated directing creatively,” Brown tweeted.
