Kevin Costner Recalls Fond ‘Bodyguard’ Memories at Whitney Houston’s Funeral (VIDEO)
“The song ‘I Will always Love You’ almost wasn’t It wasn’t suppose to be in the movie. It was supposed to be ‘What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?’ — but it came out the year before in another movie,” Kevin said at the beginning of his speech. “So what becomes of our broken hearts?”
“Whitney was the only one who could play Rachel Marron at that time,” he told the crowd.
Costner also recalled a fond memory of Whitney’s audition for The Bodyguard in which the make-up she had put on herself minutes earlier was melted off by the studio’s bright lights. Costner said Whitney had removed the studio’s make-up she had on and instead used her own.
“She seemed so small and sad at that moment and I asked her why she did it. She said, ‘I just wanted to look my best,'” he recalled. “If Whitney could hear me now, I’d say you weren’t enough, you were great … People just didn’t like you, they loved you.”
