Was Taylor Momsen Gonna Be a Runaway?
Did Dakota Fanning beat out Taylor Momsen for a plum—or perhaps Cherie—role?
A copy of Momsen’s recording contract with Interscope Records obtained by TMZ seems to indicate as much.
The contract, dated March 17, 2009, stipulates that, if Momsen takes any acting roles with “musical elements,” she must surrender 10 percent of her acting fee to the record company.
But there are two exceptions to that clause in the contract—her TV show Gossip Girl and a then-upcoming “Runaways Project.”
Hmm; now what “Runaways Project” could that possibly have been referring to?
The most logical role in the film for Momsen would have been Runaways singer Cherie Currie, a part that was eventually snagged up by Fanning.

I have to disagree. To me, Taylor’s just a poser. She dresses all rock-star-ish…but I just don’t think she has it in her. Dakota is a WONDERFUL actress, she can get into characters so easily, and, let’s face it, Momsen isn’t that talented…

Taylor Momsen is a talentless, 16 year old misguided child. Trust me, there is not a 16 year old on this planet who “knows” rock and roll. “Rockstar” ? First of all it’s TWO words – rock star. Lastly she is not one.

Uhm. This couldn’t have happened even if they’d cast Taylor and she REALLY wanted it.
Taylor has a contract with Gossip Girl. They clash bigtime in the filming department. If she was considered at one point for this role, it was more than likely Taylor that had to back out.

I totally disagree. Shes extremely talented. Amaging singer and actor.
I’m not saying Kristen and Dakota won’t be good or even great, but don’t jump the gun and beleive something that has no actual concrete proof of being true. Its based entirely on TMZ jumping to conclusions. For all we know, Taylor could have put it in there hoping there was a way she might could do this movie. Theres no upcoming song of hers thats going to be on Gossip Girl yet she put that in there too. Just saying.
I think Taylor LOOKS more like Cherie than Dakota does, but Dakota beats her by a million miles in the acting department.
Taylor Momsen…I forgot she was and actress, no, a model, no a “Rock Star”….I think not…she needs to sit down and recover from her jaded behavior. It will be great to see Dakota in this role. Although, I don’t care for the Twilight series or movie.
Taylor is a talentless piece of trash, so definitely Dakota. She has amazing skills in the acting department and has marvelous talent!
taylor just looks more like how she would, but she cant really act, unlike dakota. so i think its better for dakota to be in runaways, cos they just got a wig and put on makeup, and then she looks like cherie. because, yeah, i did actually think taylor would look more the part than dakota. but then again, dakota can actually act.
I think that it was the right decision to choose Dakota to play Cherie. She is a fantastic actress and i can’t believe some people are actually saying that she is ugly. I think that she is gorgeous. Im not saying that Taylor was not deserving of the part but i just think Dakota was the best choice.
DAKOTA! I’ve never seen better actress in her age, she is so much talented. Taylor is such young girl, but when you look at her – she looks like a slut, and rock star?? What a hell… it’s stylists job! I’m glad the role is playing Dakota, she seems to be such a clever girl, and I see, that acting is her dream – she do it since… I don’t know, since she was kid! Before I even heard of this, I knew Dakota was wrong for the role. She is the most talentless, overrated child actress there is. And can she sing a note? No, this was Taylor’s role, and I am not seeing this movie because of this.
momsen should have her own identity. i love her as jenny because it doesn’t require much acting skill to perform such lame character… she shouldn’t be compared to Dakota for christ sake!!! Dakota have done great work in her acting career unlike her…..

WGAF? Taylor Momsen is already better than Cherie Currie ever was. -And so obviously hotter than CC -and on top of all of that she can act. Taylor Momsen is one of the extreme few (like name another) who can seriously say she IS a model, actress and singer (did you forget songwriter?) I’m a little sad for Taylor because I know she would have totally kicked in that role -but the sky’s the limit for Taylor anyway -on her OWN merits. Good luck to Dakota :)
i think we’re also talking about singing here not just acting. Have you heard Taylor’s voice? I actually like her music. I think it she fits the role.
i Think taylor would of done better, i just feel that, besides the facts she looks like her and sings good to, and is a good actress, that she is better firnthe part. i mean its a biopic and taylor LOVES the runaways and knows more ablut them, and if your a runaways fan, your going to want her protrayed by someone who really knows the teenage rock and roll thing, plus to that person that said theres isn’t a sixteen year old on a planet who doesn’t know rock and roll than your wrong because rock and roll is for teenagers, they were the first fans of it, and the fans in every diffrnent kind thats come out,.plus because it has kristen AND dakota is going to be a twilight hing and i dn’t like that

I say Taylor, have you heard this girl sing and rock out? She is better than I ever expected and her looks are way better but done is done and Fanning snagged it….that girl can probably get any role she wants

They’re both the same age – 16 years old. Dakota has far more acting experience than Taylor would ever have in her lifetime and that’s probably the main reason why she got the role as Cherie.
Plus, Taylor Momsen has a bitchass attitude towards everything. Think about her behavior during set time.
i think taylor has more of the sex kitten look, maybe because she’s taller or something. but i do think that dakota probably is better actress and i admitted it will probably be some what strange seeing her all sex ed up. nevertheless, excited for the movie

taylor momsen is so much more talented that wannabe dakota fanniing! taylor already has that edgy style and is an amazing actress! but to me they are both trying to act to much as an adult.

Dakota Fanning for the win. She’s a great actress – actress that means you can ‘play’ another caracter convincing. Taylor Momsen wants to be a rockstar or something in real life, but to me it all seems so fake with her. I’m sorry, but I think she’s a total wannabe. And indeed, she’s not a great actress. That role on Gossip girl wasn’t that complex or hard to play, and now she’s trying to be Jenny in real life..
Dakota IS an actress. Also a little weird in real life, but she can perform and that’s the difference.
