Will Ferrell: Urine for a Good Time

Apr 24, 2009 at 9:45am

What’s the secret to a well-balanced diet when you’re battling an unforgiving terrain?

If you’re Will Ferrell, it’s a thirst-quenching glass of…your own urine.

The Talladega Nights funnyman recently lit out for the Swedish hinterland with survivalist expert Bear Grylls and taped an episode of Grylls’ Discovery Channel show Man vs. Wild, in order to promote his upcoming big-screen adaptation of Land of the Lost.

Faced with icy climes and only the most basic of gear, Ferrell and Grylls were forced to find sustenance in reindeer eyeballs and their own whiz.

“To be able to participate in an episode of Man vs. Wild was a thrill of a lifetime, even though I did get urine-drunk which is sad,” Ferrell tells Us Magazine.

“Will did an amazing job in sub-zero, very unforgiving conditions,” Grylls, a former Special Forces solider, says of his guest-star. “He trusted me when it mattered and we survived. And he has definitely had an adventure! He should be very proud of how he performed.”

That’s great. But maybe next time you should pack some Tang?
