Looks like Jaden Smith will be following in his father's action-star footsteps.
Us Magazine reports that the ten-year-old spawn of Will Smith—who co-starred with Pop in 2006's The Pursuit of Happyness—will play the lead in a remake of the 1984 classic The Karate Kid.
Jaden—who's taken up martial arts in real life—will portray the bullied karate student to an offbeat coach, in a script written specifically for him.
Though the film will follow the general plot of the original, there will be some tweaks—such as being filmed in Beiing, China, instead of Hawaii. Jaden's father will serve as co-producer of the film. (Hey, being born into a famous Hollywood family has its benefits. Most of the time, anyway.)
The remake is the most recent step in Jaden's burgeoning film career. While the martial-arts flick starts filming in 2009, December 12 will see the release of sci-fi epic The Day the Earth Stood Still, in which he co-stars with Keanu Reeves.
Hopefully Jaden was able to give his castmate some acting tips.

He reminds me of Riley from the Boondocks.
Ohhh ! he is a cutie !
Are there now or ever been an actor or actress that has a kid that actually gets a real job? And how talented Smith's son must be to beat out ALL the other kid actors that auditioned for that part. Amazing!
