Zooey Deschanel Says 'Yes Man' to Marriage

Working on the Jim Carrey movie Yes Man seems to have done something to make Zooey Deschanel agreeable to big life changes. The 28-year-old daughter of Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel (think The Passion of the Christ) has said yes to marriage with Death Cab for Cutie singer Ben Gibbard, 32.

When he's not fronting Death Cab for Cutie, Gibbard is also in the indie group the Postal Service. He wisely beat the Christmas rush by popping the question before the holidays, according to a source at People.

Aside from performing on screens big and small, Deschanel is a singer/songwriter in her own right; Volume One, the first album with her band She & Him, was released in March.

Zooey went to high school with her Almost Famous co-star Kate Hudson. She and Kate seem to share a taste for musicians. Kate is divorced from and has a son with Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson. Zoey, who broke into TV at age 17 playing a model on the NBC comedy series Veronica's Closet, is not only engaged to Death Cab for Cutie's Gibbard, this morning she was also reportedly set to marry Hunter Burgan, bass player for the band AFI.

That misconception was quickly cleared up. Now, if she could just get strangers to quit calling her Katy Perry.

aww be nice. zooey's a smart pretty girl. Obviously she see's something in him, don't judge him. i'm happy for her.
