“All this was mostly luck,” he tells OUT magazine of his Hollywood career thus far. After getting his start on the Aussie soap Home and Away, he’s primed to be this summer’s blockbuster star (in both The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman). Still, he says, he didn’t think it was coming to him.
“It’s so easy to sound fake sincere when you talk about looks or whatever, but I never thought, Oh yeah, great, I look like this, therefore I ought to get that. We all have the same insecurities.”
Growing up, he was equally in touch with his emotions. “My mum always used to say to me that, out of her three boys, ‘Chris, you were the girl,’” Hemsworth says. “I’d speak to her about far more things than [my brothers] would and far more things than she needed to hear about, too. I was a chatty kid.”
As for that other Hemsworth, “I’m reminded, now that my little brother’s working a lot, how much more interesting he is,” Chris says. “So I give him a punch when I see him.”
The 28-year-old actor is married to actress Elsa Pataky. She’s currently pregnant with their first child.
