The three-time Oscar nominee removed most of his clothes for the ’80s-inspired shoot, which features a tattooed and leather-clad Tom getting in touch with his inner-rock star.
What inspired the shoot?
It’s all for his new movie-musical (yes, musical) Rock of Ages, in which Tom plays the legendary — albeit, elusive — rocker, Stacee Jaxx.
Celebuzz exclusively debuted the cover for the issue, which you can check out by clicking here.
Tom has been all over the news this week, thanks to his new interview with PLAYBOY, in which he opened up about his connections with Scientology, and the infamous comments he made about Brooke Shields, in 2005.
“If I don’t talk about my religion, if I say I’m not discussing it or different humanitarian things I’m working on, they’re like, ‘He’s avoiding it.’ If I do talk about it, it becomes, ‘Oh, he’s proselytizing,'” he said.
Recalling his testy interview with Matt Lauer and the criticisms he made about Sheilds’ battle with postpartum depression, he said, “I never meant it that way. When I go back and look at it, I find myself thinking, I don’t feel that way. I get how it came across, but I don’t feel that way, and I never have. Telling people how to live their lives? I saw how that came across and how pieces were edited.”
The new issue of W Magazine hits stands May 22.
