When we began compiling our picks for the best of Fourth of July television, someone in our office actually had the gall to say that no one stays in for Independence Day. She, of course, received the evil eye.

You have the day off and strange kids are outside with explosive and flammable sticks. Um, hello, what better day to stay home and watch TV?

So, find out what’s on tap for the holiday’s TV…

There are a couple specials of note on Wednesday. Pop star Katy Perry and country singer Kenny Chesneyare headlining the Macy’s 4th of July Spectacularairing at 9 PM on NBC. At 10 PM, Michael Chiklis hosts the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, which airs at 10 pm on CBS with Jennifer Hudson performing.

But, what do you do with the dozen or so other hours of the day? Close your blinds, shut the world out and tuck yourself in for a TV marathon. Perky co-workers be damned!
