Robert Downey Jr. suffered an injury to his ankle on Wednesday while filming Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, NC, confirms Marvel Studios.
In a statement released Thursday, the studio said: “Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.”
No word on whether or not the injury will affect the movie’s release date, which is currently pegged for May 3, 2013.
Iron Man 3, which is being helmed by Shane Black, will see the return of Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle. Also joining the project: Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce and Rebecca Hall.
Of course, this isn’t the first time an actor has injured themselves on the set of a movie. Back in July, Oscar-winning beauty Halle Berry was rushed to the hospital after she fell and hit her head.
