It’s going to be interesting writing up my review of this episode as I’m so used to talking about all of the characters in their usual pairs. But this time there was a lot of shuffling around and almost no one spent a lot of time with their loved one, best friend or spouse. I like it when things get changed up every once in a while though, so here goes.
Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, “Second Opinion.”
First up, let’s talk about the returning queen herself, Cristina. Just having her sassy attitude back within the walls of Seattle Grace Mercy West made everything feel right in the world again. I found it kind of hilarious that she didn’t immediately take over the “Scariest Resident” position from Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), but instead became the hero of her interns. Not because Cristina was nice to them of course (giving them Dwarf nicknames was hilarious), but because she was busy and needed them in her surgeries. Still, it was great to see her turning into such a good teacher.
Next we have Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Callie (Sara Ramirez). I never thought that Callie had truly given up on fixing Derek’s hand and I was really glad that, in the end, she retracted her statement. That girl has got mad skills and I know if anyone can get him operating again, it will be her. I’m excited to see those two continue to work together to get his hand back to the perfection that it once was. Because Derek just wandering the halls in a brace is not cutting it (see what I did there?) for me. That man needs to be operating, period.
Also, I’m so happy that Alex is buying Meredith’s old house. That place has been around since Season 1, and like Meredith said, they’ve all grown up there. I watch reruns of this show all the time and there are just so many moments that we can’t forget in that place. Heck, I just watched the episode with the Christmas tree the other day. In some ways, that house is like another character on the show and I’m glad it will be sticking around. I’m also practically giddy at the idea of Alex and Cristina as roommates. The battles between those two are going to be epic, I just know it.
Miranda (Chandra Wilson) getting Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) literally back on her feet again was fantastic. Bailey certainly is the master at manipulation. I was wondering how long it would take to get Arizona back in the hospital as, again, things were never going to be the same until she was there.
As for some of the other stories in this episode, the intern with Santa Claus was a nice little medical mystery. I also got a huge kick out of the whole texting fiasco between Jackson (Jesse Williams) and Richard (James Pickens, Jr.). And I completely agree with Richard, I think Jackson is happy that his mom found someone.
OMG!: Miranda and Callie spotting Arizona walking down the hallway of the hospital.
Thank you, TV gods.: All of our favorite TV docs back under the same hospital roof again. It’s been much too long.
Awk-ward: Just thinking about those tweets that Jackson saw from his mom and Richard. Bwuuuh! *shivers*
Hotness: Jackson and Kepner (Sarah Drew). She is so right in comparing him to a naughty dessert. All I have to say to that is, yum.
Fab-u-lous: “Santa Claus” after his makeover. Amazing that such a normal looking guy was underneath all that.
Can. Not. Wait.: Alex and Cristina as roommates. That is going to be so awesome.
Celebuzz Meter (1-10): 9. This episode felt a lot like old times.
So what did you think of “Second Opinion”? Are you happy to have all the docs back in the same hospital again? Let me know in the comments below, I love hearing from you guys!
