The same day that the happy couple was snapped cradling newborns at the local Sudbury hospital Feb. 24, they headed to the Science North center across the street to play with cuddly creatures of a different kind — wild animals! — and Celebuzz has a photo of the superstars donning their lab coats.
And there’s a special reason for the blue attire.
The husband and wife, who tied the knot last September, were accompanied by Reynolds’ Queen of the Night co-star Kevin Durand and all participated in a flying squirrel demonstration.
“They wanted to visit because they had heard about the flying squirrels,” Stephanie Deshenes, marketing manager at Science North, told Celebuzz.
“We knew they were coming. They’ve been having trouble with photographers following them so we arranged a private tour after hours.
“Squirrels are nocturnal so what we do is we stand on our platform and they glide through the air to the blue coat where they landed on Blake and Ryan. They had so much fun.”
But it was the eight-legged creature that — not surprisingly — took a liking to the 25-year-old blonde beauty during their two-hour adventure.
“They each held a tarantula — and it really seemed to like Blake the best,” Deshenes added with a laugh.
“Usually, they just sit and are used to being held. So it isn’t very often that they crawl around and it was doing that with Blake. Even when they were trying to hand it off to Ryan, it was trying to come back to Blake.”
And Mrs. Reynolds wasn’t even squeamish. In fact, the whole thing was her idea.
“Blake wanted to do it and jumped at the chance. They were very adventurous about being here,” Deshenes said of the famous visitors, who also got to meet the beaver and porcupine animal ambassadors.
“It was just a fun outing for them.
“They were totally normal people just having a good time. And it was fun to walk through with them. They were so easy to talk to and really enjoyed all the animals they met.”
