“I’ve been doing it too much. I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing,” he told the Associated Press while promoting his latest flick, The Place Beyond The Pines. “I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that.
“I need a break from myself,” he modestly added, “as much as I imagine the audience does.”
The Oscar-nominated Gosling, 32, hammered home his point in another interview.
“I just need a little break from myself,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I got into the habit of just having a lot of options, and then suddenly getting option anxiety, and I need to get a little distance and give myself and the audience a little break.”
But the big screen heartthrob isn’t entirely saying goodbye to Hollywood. As he steps away from acting, he moves behind the camera for his directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster, which will begin shooting this spring.
Now as the Gosling Nation mourns the loss of its leading man — for now — Celebuzz is looking toward the light at the end of tunnel.
