MTV’s World of Jenks follows filmmaker Andrew Jenks on his search for inspirational people who are making their mark on the world.
But what happens when his documentary ambitions get sidelined by his subjects? Jenks learns a few life lessons of his own.
Celebuzz has an exclusive clip of Monday’s episode.
“Live for Today, Pray for Tomorrow” features Kaylin, who’s struggling with a cancer diagnosis. When she receives a call from the hospital, she explains to Jenks to her health takes priority.
“Something might be really wrong and I need to get it checked out,” she said, as her situation takes a turn for the worse.
“I had no idea you’re going through that,” Andrew told Kaylin. “A simple text message actually means the world to me.”
“I wasn’t thinking about you, or MTV, or anything…” she said. “I’m really scared.”
Kaylin’s honesty gives Andrew some much-needed perspective.
“Kaylin needed some alone time and as hard as that is for me as a filmmaker,” he said. “I have to value and respect that.”
The new one-hour series format focuses on three different people and the battles they face. This season, fans have been introduced to fashion designer Kaylin from San Francisco, Calif., who has suffered from two different kinds of cancer. In spite of all that, she moves to New York City to pursue her dream.
Jenks also shadows two others — 20-year-old Chad from Middletown, N.Y., who’s autistic and on the cusp of graduating from high school; and D-Real, who is a drug-dealer-turned-dancer from Oakland, Calif., turning his life around after doing time for his crimes.
World of Jenks airs on MTV April 8 at 11 p.m.
