Katy Perry and Lady Gaga Will Be Delivering Roars and Applauses Beside Each Other at the VMAs

Well this is going to be awkward…

Because the world needs more drama with the whole Katy Perry vs. Lady Gaga thing, the folks at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards have decided to sit the ladies beside each other.

At least, according to the Barclays Center’s official Twitter account.

In a preview of Sunday’s “prime time front row seating,” cards featuring Perry and Mother Monster can be seen right beside each other, with the guys from Fun. (and Lena Dunham probably) sitting in the row behind.

Since the release of Perry’s “Roar” and Gaga’s “Applause,” the singers have been endlessly compared on Twitter, in conversation — everything. Celebuzz also held a poll (last time we checked, Gaga’s in the lead).

On the coveted Billboard Hot 100 chart though, “Roar” finished its first week in second place (behind Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”) while “Applause” placed sixth.

Speaking of the unofficial (when is it official?) song of summer 2013, Thicke will be sitting beside twerk princess Miley Cyrus inside the Barclays Center on Sunday.

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, featuring an opening number by Lady Gaga and a closing number by her seatmate Katy Perry, airs on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.
