Michael Jackson’s Family Loses Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Michael Jackson‘s family — his mother Katherine and the late singer’s three children — has lost their bid to hold AEG Live accountable for the death of the King of Pop.

On Wednesday, a jury ruled that AEG Live, the show promoter behind Michael Jackson’s This Is It Tour, did hire Conrad Murray as Jackson’s attending physician but found the doctor to be fit to treat MJ.

Though a jury in the criminal case ruled Murray behind the action that ultimately killed the singing legend, Katherine lost the lawsuit because the core of her case questioned Murray’s competence as a doctor.

Katherine claimed AEG Live negligently hired and supervised Murray to Jackson beyond the limits for his live show and wanted the company to take responsibility of his death.

Jackson died of an acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication on June 25, 2009. He was 50.
