Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Camille Grammer underwent a “radical hysterectomy” Friday since being diagnosed with early stage endometrial cancer, according to PEOPLE.

“The surgery went well and she is expected to make a complete recovery following a significant recuperation period,” her publicist, Howard Bragman, told the mag.

Endometrial cancer forms in the tissue lining the uterus and has affected over 49,000 women, according to 2013 statistics.

The 45-year-old mother, who was previously married to Boss star Kelsey Grammer and had two children together — 11-year-old daughter Mason and 9-year-old son Jude — via surrogate, was at a higher risk of cancer due to genetics, according to Bragman.

“[She] has been diligent about regular checkups and monitoring, which explains the early detection and rapid treatment,” he added.

“Ms. Grammer expresses gratitude to all the amazing health care professionals who have taken such loving and nurturing care of her. She urges all women to be aware of genetic factors relating to women’s cancers and get regular checkups.”
