Chris Hemsworth’s superhero skills come in handy on the big on screen, but in real life he needed emergency services to come to his rescue.

The Thor star and his wife, along with eight other passengers, were stranded in their boat off the coast of the Canary Islands over the weekend, according to local reports.

Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, who’s pregnant with their second child, have been on the Spanish islands where the actor is currently filming Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea. After chartering a 38-foot yacht called Macano Fifth, it hit rock bottom and all 10 people on board (nine adults and one child) had to be rescued in the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera.

Fortunately, the weather was in their favor and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Tenerife mobilized a boat and helicopter to the area.

The passengers, whose names have not been released, were all in good condition and transported by dinghy to Playa de Santiago in good condition.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of the yacht, which as of Monday was still stranded.
