“We are thrilled to bits that he is seeing Emma Watson,” Janney’s family told the Evening Standard. “We are looking forward to meeting her soon.”
Janney, who plays on Oxford’s varsity rugby team, lost both his parents to cancer. His unofficial guardians, Coralie and James Day, raised Janney and his sister after their mother died of breast cancer in 2008 (their father died of cancer when Janney was a toddler).
“After Matt’s mum died I became his second mother,” Coralie told the paper. “I took him up to Oxford when he started there. I am very proud of him.
“Hats off to her for finding such a wonderful young man. There is nothing bad anyone could say about Matt. He is absolutely lovely.”
Janney and Watson went on a Caribbean holiday before Watson presented at last Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.
