‘The Goonies’ Sequel is Totally Happening

Kids of the 80s and 90s will be happy to hear that one of the best movies of our generation will finally be getting the sequel it deserves.

Director Richard Donner confirmed his intentions for a return trip to the ‘Goon Docks’ and that group of misfits lovingly known as The Goonies.

TMZ posted the video this morning, which captured Donner signing autographs for fans and answering a few questions. As he directed the Christopher Reeve classic Superman, the questions focused on his thoughts on Hollywood’s obsession with comic-book movies.

And although he didn’t seem to care all that much with super heroes, he offered up the piece of news Goonies fans have been waiting for.

“If you call ‘Goonies’ a comic book. We’re doing a sequel,” said Donner.

The best part is, he wants the entire cast to come back for round two.

It isn’t clear if Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, or Martha Plimpton have even been approached yet, but I’m dying to hear what they have to say about coming back more than 28 years after filming the original.

If anything, we’ll need to at least get the truffle shuffle involved with this in one way or another.
