The newlyweds (??) go glam for pal Anna Wintour.
The Met Gala is one of fashion’s most extravagant nights of the year, bringing beautiful and wealthy people of the fashion, film and music industry together as a fundraiser for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Arts.

The glamorous evening revolves around a theme which a-listers must do their must to meet.  So as you’d probably discern, what you wear is the single most important facet of the whole evening.

This year’s theme is “White Ties and Decorations,” a tribute to Charles James, a British-born fashion designer known as “America’s First Couturier” who created floor-length, structured ball gowns for women that showed off their assets rather than concealed them.

In other words, celebs are expected to dress in accordance with the glitz and glam of the Forties and Fifties, in ball gowns, long white gloves, tuxedos with coattails.

Unfortunately, few celebs actually get the memo and are able to dress the part while still looking chic and fashionable.

Launch the gallery above to see who “got it” this year, making the cut for our list of Best Dressed.
