Celebrities who like to blaze it once in a while.
One Direction‘s Liam Payne is speaking out after few of his bandmates have been caught on camera smoking weed.

After footage of Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik lighting a joint while en route to their show in Peru surfaced, the “Best Song Ever” singer took it upon himself to defend his pals’ actions. Over the weekend, Payne tweeted out a series messages slamming Jan Moir, the MailOnline author who first published the headline-making video, for spreading false information.

Despite criticizing Moir, Payne admitted that the video itself, which was shot by Tomlinson in the back of a moving car, may not have portrayed his band in the best way.

For the record, the boys didn’t necessarily break any laws as under Peruvian jurisdiction, possession of marijuana is not punishable if used for personal consumption in quantities not exceeding eight grams. Despite this fact, 1D’s team still attempted scrub the video off the internet — as if that will ever happen in this day and age — by slapping many news outlets with cease and desist letters from Tomlinson’s lawyer.

Maybe next time just don’t film yourself doing drugs if, like, you don’t want people seeing you doing drugs? Just a thought.
