When it comes to biopics about Old Hollywood scandal, Errol Flynn‘s relationship with a 15-year-old chorus girl is about as salacious as it gets. Enter The Last of Robin Hood, which pairs Kevin Kline and Dakota Fanning as lovers during the 1950s, right before Flynn died at 50 of a heart attack.
The Last of Robin Hood premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, but hits theaters this August.
In addition to Kline and Fanning, Susan Sarandon plays Fanning’s stage mom who facilitates the affair between Flynn and her daughter. For the most part, this looks like a movie about the three of them. And Old Hollywood tales tend to be irresistible for Oscar voters when nominations come around, so will this film be able to stick around through the fall and into next year? That remains to be see. Though The Last of Robin Hood seems like a pretty snappy little film, for a film about statutory rape.
