The 72-year-old chef, publisher and entrepreneur recently opened up to the Huffington Post about she and Blake’s friendship (Martha helped plan Blake’s 2012 wedding to Ryan Reynolds) and what it’s like to be neighbors with the Gossip Girl star and her Selfless actor hubby.
Stewart told Huffpo that while she hasn’t seen Blake’s new blog, she does think the 26-year-old’s goop-y aspirations are absurd. “It’s stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress?” However, the two ladies do share more than an affinity for baked goods. They used to be neighbors.
“She moved into my neighborhood a couple of years ago with Ryan — before they got married they bought a house right around the corner from my house. And they started to come over, not to borrow sugar, but just as friends,” Martha told the web site. The genetically blessed couple ultimately decided to move nearby, to “another place which is more private.”
So, how does Lively feel about Stewart? The California girl raved about her “idol” Martha in the August issue of Vogue magazine. “I’ve only ever found her to be completely generous and kind. She’s one of those people who connect people with each other. She’s there for you.”
Martha, Martha, Martha. Blake adores you. Maybe imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery. After all, the Martha host did also admit to Huffpo that she’d be appearing on the silver screen very soon.
“I just did a movie yesterday, though — I can’t even tell you about it — but I want to be Blake Lively,” she laughed.
