The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards air Sunday, August 24, and ahead of the big night, we’re looking back over 10 years of iconic music videos. Our goal is simple: we want to name the best Video of the Year winner from the last decade. Our method is even simpler: we need you to vote for your favorite videos. You may vote once per hour.
For the next several days, we will pit two Video of the Year winners from the last 10 years against one another. The winner of each round will advance to the final round, which starts next week. In the final round, the top five Video of the Year winners, as chosen by you, will go head-to-head in the ultimate Video of the Year showdown. For Round Three: Britney Spears‘ “Piece of Me,” which won VotY in 2008, vs. Beyoncé‘s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” which won in 2009.
Round 1: OutKast – “Hey Ya!” vs. Green Day “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”(Wednesday, August 13)
Round 2: Panic! At The Disco – “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” vs. Rihanna ft. Jay Z – “Umbrella” (Thursday, August 14)
Round 3: Britney Spears – “Piece of Me” vs. Beyoncé – “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” (Friday, August 15)
Round 4: Lady Gaga – “Bad Romance” vs. Katy Perry – “Firework” (Monday, August 18)
Round 5: Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris – “We Found Love” vs. Justin Timberlake – “Mirrors” (Tuesday, August 19)
Final Round: Winners of Rounds 1 – 5 in Ultimate Showdown (Wednesday, August 20 through Friday, August 22)
Return each day for the next week and a half to vote, vote, vote! May the best video win!
