Besides the release of 1989, we are happy to report that the “Shake It Off” singer has just been named the Global Welcome Ambassador for New York City’s tourism board.
How appropriate, considering the first track off 1989 is called “Welcome To New York.” (But you knew that already).
Here’s the first advertisement featuring Ambassador Taylor:

In other TSwift news, the 24-year-old entertainer has just been revealed as the headliner for the annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special with host Ryan Seacrest.
“Each year New Year’s Rockin’ Eve continues its iconic legacy by delivering incredible performances from the year’s hottest artists and this year is no exception,” Seacrest said in a statement. [via The Hollywood Reporter]
“We already have secured an unprecedented number of music acts, culminating with a Times Square performance by Taylor, the biggest superstar in music today.”
Taylor Swift and New York City. It’s a good thing.
1989 is available in stores and on iTunes now.
