After allegations surfaced last week about Mama June dating a child molester, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson‘s father Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson is ready to fight for full custody of his daughter to ensure her safety.
According to the Daily Mail, Sugar Bear has only been able to see Alana twice since TLC pulled the plug on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and is concerned that his daughter been in contact with Mark McDaniel when he is not there.
One of Sugar Bear’s best friends “Crazy Tony” Lindsay says, “Mike is all over the place and is distraught that his daughter has had contact with a sex offender. He wants her out of that environment and knows the only way to do that is to get custody.”
However, Sugar Bear–who’s been living in a mobile home since their split and has allegedly had to borrow money from friends to stay afloat–may not have the financial support to take on Mama June.
“June has all the money, and he has not seen any of it. He will have to sue for custody and June will not give her up,” Lindsay explained. “I genuinely worry for the future of that family. Before the show they had nothing, and they are going to end up with nothing.”
Investigators for Child Protective Services in Georgia are still looking into the situation regarding June’s three youngest children (including Alana as well as Shannon, 14, and Jessica, 17). However, the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department tells TMZ McDaniel is not legally prohibited from being around June or her daughters with the exception of Shannon–who recently revealed she was the victim in his child molestation case.
So unless officials find a real threat to June’s children, they cannot take any legal action.
