Margot Robbie became everyone’s crush — men and women alike — after her seriously sexy breakout role in The Wolf of Wall Street. But while we may all sit here and think her looks alone could have easily snagged her the part, it wasn’t that simple.
The 24-year-old actress sat down with Harper’s Bazaar U.K. and revealed she needed to make a big statement when she auditioned for the role as Naomi… But how big is too big?
During her first scene with DiCaprio, a scripted yelling match ensued, but Robbie decided to take it a bit further: “So I walk up really close to his face and then I’m like, ‘Maybe I should kiss him. When else am I ever going to get a chance to kiss Leo DiCaprio, ever?’ But another part of my brain clicks and I just go, ‘Whack!’ I hit him in the face. And then I scream, ‘F–k you!’ And that’s not in the script at all. The room just went dead silent and I froze.”
Robbie confessed she immediately regretted her decision and began mentally kicking herself for doing something so stupid.
“I’m thinking, ‘You just hit Leonardo DiCaprio in the face. They’re going to arrest you because that’s assault,” she recalled. “You’re definitely never going to work again, that’s for sure. They’ll probably sue you as well in case there’s a bruise on his face and he needs to film something else.”
Wellp, it looks like that’s just was the film’s director Martin Scorsese was looking for… But we can’t help but wonder what Leo thought of the whole thing? Ouch!
